Keir J. Beadling, Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Founder and CEO of Evolve Sports, LLC, Keir co-founded Mavericks Surf Ventures, LLC in 2003 with partners Jeff Clark and Doug Epstein. Keir’s responsibililties include overall management of Mavericks Surf Ventures’ operations and of the Mavericks™ brand. In addition to his responsibilities at Mavericks Surf Ventures, Keir founded Evolve Sports, LLC in 2001 to deliver athletes, corporate sponsors, event managers, and entertainment & media professionals access into the growing world of emerging sports. Prior to founding Evolve, Keir was a large firm litigator in Palo Alto, San Francisco and Boston. Keir graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in History in 1990, holds a 1993 J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, and attended Babson’s F.W. Olin School of Business.

Douglas B. Epstein, Co-Founder

Doug joined Evolve Sports in 2003 and co-founded Mavericks Surf Ventures. Doug is primarily responsible for developing and implementing Mavericks Surf Ventures’ operational infrastructure, including the logistics involved with The Mavericks Surf Contest™. Prior to joining Evolve, he founded the Washington, DC office of Katalyst LLC, a venture capital firm providing management consulting services to its portfolio companies. Prior to Katalyst, Doug was a senior associate with the technology investment bank Updata Capital, Inc., where he completed a number of mergers and acquisitions in the software and services spaces; and was an original member of the management consulting firm Dean & Company. He graduated from Duke University in 1989 with a B.A. in Economics, and Kenan Flagler Business School at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1993 with an M.B.A. Contact Doug. doug@maverickssurf.com

Jeff Clark, Co-Founder

Big-wave surfing legend and Mavericks pioneer, Jeff joined with Evolve Sports in 2003 to create Mavericks Surf Ventures. As chronicled in Stacy Peralta’s Riding Giants, Jeff first began surfing Mavericks in 1975 and continued his odyssey alone for 15 years, a singular achievement in the history of his sport. Now in his 30th year at Mavericks, Jeff serves as Contest Director of The Mavericks Surf Contest™, is actively involved in Mavericks Surf Ventures’ activities, and is the renowned shaper behind Jeff Clark’s Surfboards.
